  Our History
Five years ago, the Gedolei Torah of Eretz Yisroel came to a conclusion that would change the very face of Eretz Yisroel in the years to come. They realized that we were – and still are – living in a unique era, an era in which thousands of completely secular Israelis are searching for meaning in their lives, and understand that they will only find it through Torah. In May 1998, Rav Aharon Leib Steinman and the Gerrer Rebbe set off on an historic visit to the United States to promote this vision. The time had come to establish a Torah school system specifically geared for children from nonreligious homes. As a result of that visit, Keren Nesivos Moshe – named in memory of legendary Agudath Israel leader Rabbi Moshe Shere – was born. Today, five years later, we’ve come to take for granted the concept of providing a Torah education to secular children. But in 1998, when the Gedolei Torah first brought our network into being, many people thought it was an impossible goal. Our explosive growth, however, speaks for itself.
